180 Day German Roadmap (A1 to B1, Speaking First)
This roadmap is designed for adult learners with low attention span, working full time, and aiming for real spoken German.
Each day is short, realistic, and links to a dedicated lesson page like day-1.php, day-2.php, and so on.

Month 1 (Days 1–30)
Day 1 — German alphabet and basic greetings
Level: A1
- Learn alphabet and basic sounds with slow German audio, repeated several times.
- Spell your name, your wife name, and Dubai using German letter names.
- Practice a 6 line greeting dialogue with your wife using Hallo, Guten Morgen, Wie geht es dir.
Day 2 — Pronunciation: ä, ö, ü, ch, r
Level: A1
- Focus only on special sounds ä, ö, ü, ch and German r using short audio.
- Make a small list of example words for each sound and repeat them many times aloud.
- Repeat yesterday greetings again, now concentrating on mouth shape and correct sound.
Day 3 — Numbers and self introduction
Level: A1
- Learn numbers 0 to 100 and count slowly forwards and backwards in German.
- Write a short self introduction with name, age, country and city and read it aloud.
- Ask and answer basic questions with your wife about age, where you live and nationality.
Day 4 — Core verbs: sein and haben
Level: A1
- Study all present forms of sein and haben with simple example sentences.
- Write 10 sentences about you and family members using bin, bist, ist and habe, hast.
- Do question answer practice with your wife using bist du and hast du patterns.
Day 5 — Basic sentence structure (Subject Verb Object)
Level: A1
- Understand simple German word order with clear Subject Verb Object examples.
- Convert 10 short English thoughts like I drink coffee into correct German sentences.
- Read each sentence aloud twice, then try to say them again without looking at your notes.
Day 6 — Articles: der, die, das (patterns only)
Level: A1
- Learn der, die, das with around 15 common nouns that you will really use.
- Group words by article to build pattern memory instead of grammar rules.
- Say each noun with its article plus one simple sentence, all spoken slowly and clearly.
Day 7 — Week 1 review and free speaking
Level: A1
- Quickly read through all notes from Days 1 to 6 and refresh vocabulary aloud.
- Have a 7 minute German only talk with your wife using greetings, age, job and city.
- Listen to 10 minutes of slow A1 audio and just try to catch familiar words and sounds.
Day 8 — Family words and simple descriptions
Level: A1
- Learn 20 family nouns such as Mutter, Vater, Bruder, Schwester, Onkel, Tante.
- Write 5 sentences describing your close family members with basic details.
- Tell your wife about three family members in German and ask her similar questions.
Day 9 — Home and objects (Wo ist ...?)
Level: A1
- Learn 15 home related nouns such as Küche, Bett, Fenster, Tür, Tisch, Stuhl.
- Walk around your house and point to objects while saying the German word aloud.
- Practice Wo ist plus object questions and short answers with your wife around the flat.
Day 10 — Common verbs and building questions
Level: A1
- Study 10 to 12 very common verbs like gehen, kommen, essen, trinken, arbeiten, wohnen.
- Write 10 yes or no questions in German using these verbs in present tense.
- Use those questions for a short conversation with your wife and answer in full sentences.
Day 11 — Food words and simple ordering
Level: A1
- Learn 20 basic food and drink words such as Brot, Reis, Gemüse, Wasser, Tee, Kaffee.
- Write a mini restaurant dialogue: greeting, ordering, asking for the bill.
- Role play waiter and guest with your wife and repeat the role play two times each.
Day 12 — Daily routine basics
Level: A1
- Learn common routine verbs like aufstehen, frühstücken, arbeiten, kochen, schlafen.
- Write 8 short sentences describing your usual weekday from morning to night.
- Read your routine aloud then try to tell the same story to your wife without reading.
Day 13 — Time, days and simple appointments
Level: A1
- Learn how to say full times and the 7 days of the week with audio.
- Write 10 time based sentences such as Um 7 Uhr stehe ich auf and Am Montag arbeite ich.
- Practice making three simple appointments in German and confirming them with your wife.
Day 14 — Week 2 listening and consolidation
Level: A1
- Listen to 10 to 15 minutes of slow A1 audio about daily life and note familiar words.
- Review all vocabulary from Days 8 to 13 and say each word with one example sentence.
- Do a short recap with your wife talking about family, home, food and your routine.
Day 15 — Asking for directions (basic phrases)
Level: A1
- Learn direction phrases like geradeaus, links, rechts, an der Ecke, neben, gegenüber.
- Write a small dialogue asking how to get to the station or supermarket in German.
- Act out this direction role play with your wife using your real home as a pretend map.
Day 16 — Shopping and prices
Level: A1
- Learn phrases for shopping like Wie viel kostet das, billig, teuer, Größe, Farbe.
- Write a short conversation where you ask about price, size and color and then pay.
- Role play shop assistant and customer with your wife using invented prices in Euro.
Day 17 — Cafe and restaurant dialogue (extended)
Level: A1
- Add words like Vorspeise, Hauptgericht, Nachspeise, bestellen and reservieren to your list.
- Write a longer restaurant dialogue from greeting to goodbye including one small problem.
- Perform this dialogue with your wife twice and try once without looking at your notes.
Day 18 — Introducing other people
Level: A1
- Learn patterns such as Das ist mein Freund, Er kommt aus Indien, Sie arbeitet als Lehrerin.
- Write introductions for your wife and one imaginary friend in 5 or 6 simple sentences each.
- Introduce each other in German as if you are meeting a new person at a party.
Day 19 — Hobbies and free time
Level: A1
- Learn hobby verbs such as lesen, schwimmen, programmieren, reisen, spielen, fernsehen.
- Write 8 sentences about what you like and do not like to do in your free time.
- Ask and answer at least 5 hobby questions each with your wife using full sentences.
Day 20 — Weather and small talk
Level: A1
- Learn weather phrases such as Es ist warm, Es regnet, Es ist bewölkt, Die Sonne scheint.
- Write a few sentences describing today weather in Dubai and in Germany in general.
- Practice short weather small talk with your wife linking weather to mood or simple plans.
Day 21 — Week 3 speaking review
Level: A1
- Review main phrases from Days 15 to 20 quickly and refresh important words.
- Have a 7 to 10 minute German only conversation about city, shopping, food and hobbies.
- Listen to a short city or shopping related audio and repeat some sentences aloud.
Day 22 — Modal verbs: können and müssen
Level: A1
- Learn present tense forms of können and müssen with clear examples.
- Write 10 meaningful sentences about what you can do and must do in your life.
- Speak all sentences aloud and then create a small Q and A with your wife using them.
Day 23 — Accusative patterns (only by example)
Level: A1
- Learn patterns like Ich habe einen Termin and Ich kaufe den Computer without deep case rules.
- Write 10 sentences using einen and den with real objects from your life.
- Read each sentence aloud and then try to say them again from memory.
Day 24 — Everyday conversation mixing topics
Level: A1
- Combine greetings, family, work and hobbies into one short dialogue script.
- Write a 12 line conversation that could happen in real life in Germany.
- Perform the full conversation with your wife and then redo it without reading.
Day 25 — Micro writing: chat and WhatsApp style
Level: A1
- Learn chat phrases like Danke, Kein Problem, Bis später, Tut mir leid, Alles gut.
- Write 8 short WhatsApp style messages for daily situations, positive and negative.
- Read them out loud as if you are speaking them on a phone call instead of typing.
Day 26 — Listening drill: short story
Level: A1
- Choose a 2 to 3 minute slow A1 story and listen three times.
- Write down key words and then reconstruct the story using very simple German.
- Tell this story in German to your wife without worrying about perfection.
Day 27 — Free speaking: my normal day
Level: A1
- Write 8 sentences about a typical day for you using present tense.
- Underline all verbs and check word order once calmly.
- Speak for 3 minutes about your day to your wife without reading your notes.
Day 28 — Vocabulary integration day
Level: A1
- Make a list of 40 to 50 important words from Days 1 to 27 that you want to keep.
- Turn at least 15 of those words into full sentences in your notebook.
- Choose random words from the list and force yourself to say a sentence with each to your wife.
Day 29 — A1 grammar and speaking review
Level: A1
- Review all light grammar you have done so far such as sein, haben, SVO order and modal verbs.
- Write 10 mixed sentences that use different verbs and ideas from this month.
- Practice asking and answering questions using those sentences in a relaxed way.
Day 30 — A1 mini test and reflection
Level: A1
- Write a 10 sentence text about yourself, your family and your daily routine.
- Listen to one short A1 audio and write 3 simple German sentences about what you understood.
- Record a 2 to 3 minute audio of yourself speaking and listen back to notice pronunciation errors.
Month 2 (Days 31–60)
Day 31 — Separable verbs in routines
Level: A1
- Learn 8 common separable verbs like aufstehen, anrufen, einkaufen, aufräumen.
- Write 10 sentences about your day using at least 5 different separable verbs.
- Read them aloud paying attention to verb position and stress on the prefix.
Day 32 — Reflexive verbs in the morning
Level: A1
- Learn reflexive verbs such as sich waschen, sich anziehen, sich setzen.
- Write 8 sentences describing your real morning using these verbs.
- Tell your morning routine to your wife only in German focusing on reflexive forms.
Day 33 — Detailed morning routine story
Level: A1
- Add time words like zuerst, dann, danach, zum Schluss to your routine.
- Write a short paragraph of your full morning as one mini story.
- Read this story aloud and then retell it with no paper as best as you can.
Day 34 — Detailed evening routine story
Level: A1
- Learn extra evening verbs like fernsehen, entspannen, spazieren gehen.
- Write 8 lines about your evening and night in simple German.
- Exchange evening routine stories with your wife and ask each other two questions.
Day 35 — Work day description for IT job
Level: A1
- Learn work verbs like programmieren, testen, schreiben, erklären, planen.
- Write 8 to 10 sentences about what you do on a normal workday in your current job.
- Explain your job to your wife in German as if she has never seen your work.
Day 36 — Week 5 review: routines and work
Level: A1
- Review all routine and work vocabulary from Days 31 to 35 in one quick pass.
- Merge morning, work and evening into one longer German text in your notebook.
- Speak your full day in German for 4 minutes without reading even if you repeat yourself.
Day 37 — Speaking focus: daily life questions
Level: A1
- Prepare 10 daily life questions such as Wann stehst du auf and Was machst du abends.
- Use these questions to interview your wife in German and answer her questions fully.
- Try to continue the conversation naturally instead of just reading questions one by one.
Day 38 — Describing people: appearance
Level: A1
- Learn adjectives like groß, klein, schlank, dick, jung, alt, hübsch.
- Write 6 sentences describing yourself, your wife and one other person.
- Describe a person in German and let your wife guess who you are talking about.
Day 39 — Clothes and colors
Level: A1
- Learn clothing words such as Hemd, Hose, Kleid, Schuhe, Jacke plus main colors.
- Write 5 sentences about what you and your wife are wearing now.
- Stand in front of a mirror and describe your clothing from head to toe in German.
Day 40 — Feelings and physical states
Level: A1
- Learn phrases like Ich bin müde, Ich bin gestresst, Ich habe Hunger, Ich habe Durst.
- Write 8 sentences about how you usually feel during a normal workday.
- During the real day, say your state in German whenever you remember such as Ich bin müde now.
Day 41 — Adjectives with easy endings
Level: A1
- Learn simple patterns like ein großer Mann, eine kleine Wohnung without deep grammar.
- Write 10 adjective plus noun combinations connected to your real life.
- Say these out loud and then use 5 combinations in full sentences about your life.
Day 42 — Description dialogue
Level: A1
- Write a short dialogue where two people describe a third person appearance and character.
- Make 10 lines of this conversation in simple language.
- Act it out with your wife, then change details and repeat more freely.
Day 43 — Listening practice: descriptions
Level: A1
- Find a short A1 audio where someone describes a person or family member.
- Listen 2 or 3 times and write down the adjectives and nouns that you can catch.
- Explain in German who is being described using your own simple sentences.
Day 44 — Week 6 review: describing people
Level: A1
- Review all adjectives and clothes words from Days 38 to 43 aloud.
- Write a small paragraph describing a family photo, real or imaginary, in German.
- Describe 2 or 3 real people from your life to your wife using as many adjectives as possible.
Day 45 — Public transport basics
Level: A1
- Learn key transport words such as Zug, U Bahn, Bus, Bahnhof, Haltestelle, Fahrkarte.
- Write 6 sentences about how you travel now and how you might travel in Germany.
- Explain to your wife in German how to go from home to office using bus or train as if in Germany.
Day 46 — Tickets and ticket machines
Level: A1
- Learn phrases like einfache Fahrt, hin und zurück, Zone, bar zahlen, mit Karte zahlen.
- Write a short dialogue buying a ticket and asking about the price.
- Role play ticket seller and customer together and repeat with different destinations.
Day 47 — Asking for help in the city
Level: A1
- Learn expressions like Entschuldigung, können Sie mir helfen and Ich habe mich verlaufen.
- Write 6 one line situations where you need help for directions or information.
- Act out 2 or 3 of these help situations with your wife playing the stranger.
Day 48 — Doctor visit basics
Level: A1
- Learn body part words and symptom words like Kopf, Bauch, Fieber, Husten, Schmerzen.
- Write 6 sentences explaining a simple health problem in German.
- Role play a doctor visit where you explain symptoms and ask one or two basic questions.
Day 49 — Emergency phrases

- Learn emergency phrases like Hilfe, Rufen Sie bitte einen Krankenwagen, Es ist ein Unfall passiert.
- Write 4 short emergency sentences you hope you never need but want to know in German.
- Practice saying these sentences clearly and loudly for confidence.
Day 50 — Listening: city and transport story
Level: A1
- Listen to a short city or travel related A1 audio multiple times.
- Write down places and verbs that you can identify from the audio.
- Retell the route or small story in your own simple German to your wife.
Day 51 — Week 7 review: city and emergencies
Level: A1
- Review vocabulary about city, transport and emergency from Days 45 to 50.
- Write a small story about a day in a new city including travel and one problem.
- Tell this story in German for 3 to 4 minutes focusing on fluency not perfection.
Day 52 — Dative patterns with prepositions
Level: A1
- Learn pattern phrases like mit dem Bus, mit der U Bahn, bei dem Arzt, nach der Arbeit.
- Write 10 sentences using these patterns related to your daily life or future Germany life.
- Say all sentences aloud and add one extra similar sentence without looking at your notes.
Day 53 — Complex directions with dative
Level: A1
- Combine direction phrases with dative such as an der Ecke, vor dem Bahnhof, neben der Apotheke.
- Draw a simple map on paper and write step by step German directions from A to B.
- Explain those directions to your wife as if she does not see the map.
Day 54 — Making appointments (phone and in person)
Level: A1
- Learn appointment phrases like Ich möchte einen Termin and Passt es am Montag um 10 Uhr.
- Write short dialogues for dentist, bank and a language school appointment.
- Role play these appointment conversations with your wife, switching roles after each one.
Day 55 — Telephone basics

- Write 6 short telephone style lines for common situations such as asking for info.
- Sit in different rooms and simulate a phone call, speaking only German without video.

- Write 8 sentences about typical weekly tasks in your current job using simple German.
- Explain your current project to your wife using these office expressions as much as possible.

- Learn simple email structure including greeting, body and closing.
- Write one informal email to a colleague and one formal email to an office.
- Read both emails aloud as if leaving a spoken voicemail message.
Day 58 — Week 8 review: A1 to A2 bridge

- Review notes from Days 31 to 57 and mark any topics that still feel weak.
- Write a longer text of 12 sentences mixing routine, work, city and appointments.
- Explain this mixed story to your wife as one long German description.
Day 59 — Speaking: my life now and in Germany

- Make a bullet list of points about your current life and your future life in Germany.
- Use the list to speak for 5 minutes about present and future in simple German.
- Ask your wife to ask a few questions in German inside this conversation.
Day 60 — A1 to A2 self test and reflection

Month 3 (Days 61–90)
Day 61 — Perfect tense with haben
Level: A2
- Learn how to build Perfekt with haben and common verbs.
- Write 10 sentences about what you did yesterday using Perfekt.
- Read all sentences aloud and correct word order if needed.
Day 62 — Perfect tense with sein
Level: A2
- Learn Perfekt with sein for movement and change verbs such as gehen, kommen, fahren.
- Write 8 sentences about past trips or movements using ich bin gegangen and similar.
- Tell your wife a short story about last weekend using mostly Perfekt forms.
Day 63 — Irregular verbs in Perfekt
Level: A2
- Study a list of 10 important irregular verbs in Perfekt such as gesehen, genommen, geschrieben.
- Write short example sentences for each irregular form.
- Practice reading them and then quizzing each other with your wife.
Day 64 — Word order in main clauses
Level: A2
- Review position of verb in statements and questions with time and place.
- Write 10 sentences where you start with time or place and move the verb to position two.
- Read these sentences aloud focusing on rhythm and correct stress.
Day 65 — Subordinate clauses with weil
Level: A2
- Learn pattern for weil clauses and how verbs move to the end.
- Write 8 pairs of sentences joined with weil explaining reasons.
- Tell your wife 5 reasons for your choices in German using weil sentences.
Day 66 — Listening: past events story
Level: A2
- Listen to a short story where a person talks about last weekend in Perfekt.
- Write down verbs you recognize and try to reconstruct the sequence of events.
- Retell the story in your own words, using Perfekt as much as possible.
Day 67 — Week 9 review: Perfekt and weil
Level: A2
- Review Perfekt forms and weil sentences from Days 61 to 66.
- Write a small past narrative about your last holiday or big life event.
- Tell your wife this story using when, where and why in German.
Day 68 — Renting a flat vocabulary
Level: A2
- Learn words like Miete, Nebenkosten, Kaution, Vermieter, Mietvertrag.
- Write 8 sentences about what you want or need in a future German flat.
- Explain to your wife in German what kind of apartment you are looking for.
Day 69 — Utilities and services
Level: A2
- Learn words for Strom, Wasser, Internet, Anmeldung, Anbieter.
- Write short sentences about setting up utility contracts in Germany.
- Role play a simple conversation starting or canceling a contract in German.
Day 70 — Doctor appointment at A2 level

- Review symptom vocabulary and learn phrases for booking a medical appointment.
- Write a short dialogue calling a doctor office and asking for a suitable time.
- Practice this call with your wife, then improvise a second version.
Day 71 — Pharmacy and medicine
Level: A2
- Learn words like Rezept, Tabletten, Salbe, Tropfen, Nebenwirkungen.
- Write 6 lines where you explain a problem and ask for medicine at a pharmacy.
- Role play pharmacist and patient with clear, slow German.
Day 72 — Bank basics and accounts

- Learn words like Konto, Kreditkarte, Geldautomat, Überweisung, Gebühren.
- Write 6 sentences describing basic bank tasks you will need in Germany.
- Explain in German to your wife how you would open an account in Germany.
Day 73 — Insurance basics

- Write a mini story about a typical admin day in Germany including appointments and paperwork.
- Tell this story to your wife in German using as many new words as possible.
Day 75 — Travel planning vocabulary
Level: A2
- Learn words like buchen, reservieren, Fahrplan, Ankunft, Abfahrt, Verspätung.
- Write 8 sentences about planning a train or bus trip in Germany.
- Explain your travel plan to your wife as if you are organizing a weekend trip.
Day 76 — Hotels and check in
Level: A2
- Learn hotel phrases like ein Einzelzimmer, Vollpension, Halbpension, Reservierung.
- Write a check in dialogue with greeting, reservation, special request and payment.
- Act it out with your wife as receptionist and guest and then swap roles.
Day 77 — Restaurants at A2 complexity
Level: A2
- Add more polite forms for ordering and complaining in a restaurant.
- Write a restaurant scene that includes one small mistake or problem and a polite solution.
- Role play this scene with your wife focusing on polite language.
Day 78 — Workplace small talk
Level: A2
- Learn phrases for casual talk at work, such as Wie war dein Wochenende and Hast du viel zu tun.
- Write 10 sentences you might say to colleagues in a German office.
- Practice a workplace small talk conversation with your wife in German.
Day 79 — Making and handling complaints
Level: A2
- Learn complaint sentences such as Ich bin nicht zufrieden and Das ist ein Problem für mich.
- Write 6 complaint sentences for different situations like hotel, shop or service.
- Speak them aloud in a calm but firm tone as you would in real life.
Day 80 — Emails and messages at A2

- Learn phrases for slightly longer emails such as Ich möchte mich beschweren and Könnten Sie mir bitte helfen.
- Write one short complaint email and one short request email in German.
- Read them aloud and adjust any sentences that feel too complex.
Day 81 — Week 11 review: travel and communication

- Review vocabulary for travel, hotels, restaurants and workplace small talk.
- Write a story of a weekend trip including hotel, restaurant and small problems.
- Tell this trip story to your wife in German in one long go.
Day 82 — Future tense with werden
Level: A2
- Learn basic future tense using werden plus infinitive.
- Write 10 sentences about what you will do next week or next month.
- Speak these sentences aloud and then say 5 more from memory.
Day 83 — Comparisons and superlatives
Level: A2
- Learn patterns with komparativ and superlativ such as besser, am besten, schneller.
- Write 8 sentences comparing places, jobs or hobbies.
- Talk with your wife in German about which things in your life are better or worse.
Day 84 — Talking about preferences
Level: A2
- Use gern, lieber and am liebsten to talk about likes and priorities.
- Write 10 sentences about which food, activities or cities you prefer.
- Have a German conversation with your wife using lieber to compare choices.
Day 85 — Plans and small dreams
Level: A2
- Write 8 sentences about your plans in Germany using present and future forms.
- Include work, language, housing and social goals in your text.
- Read it to your wife and then have an open discussion in simple German about your plans.
Day 86 — Storytelling basics at A2
Level: A2
- Collect connectors like zuerst, dann, später, zum Schluss and use them in a small story.
- Write a short narrative about a past day that was important for you.
- Tell this story to your wife as if you are telling it to a German friend.
Day 87 — Listening: longer A2 story
Level: A2
- Listen to a slightly longer A2 story and accept that you will not understand everything.
- Write down key names, places and verbs that you catch.
- Retell the main idea in very simple German focusing on general meaning only.
Day 88 — Free speaking at A2 level

- Choose a topic such as your job, your family or your Germany plan.
- Make a few keywords and then speak for 5 minutes without reading full sentences.
- Ask your wife to do the same and keep the conversation only in German.
Day 89 — A2 grammar and vocabulary review
Level: A2
- Review Perfekt, weil sentences, future with werden, comparisons and important A2 vocabulary.
- Write 12 mixed sentences that use several of these features together.
- Speak all sentences aloud and check which ones still feel difficult.
Day 90 — A2 self test and milestone check
Level: A2
- Write one page summarizing your last 3 months of life and study in German.
- Listen to a 5 minute A2 audio and write 5 simple German sentences about it.
- Record a 5 minute German monologue and compare it with your earlier recordings.
Month 4 (Days 91–120)
Day 91 — Time connectors for storytelling
Level: A2
- Practice connectors such as zuerst, dann, danach, später, zum Schluss.
- Write a mini outline of a story using these words as structure points.
- Tell a short daily life story to your wife using all the connectors.
Day 92 — Describing past events in more detail
Level: A2
- Choose one past event and write 10 sentences describing it in Perfekt.
- Add extra information for time, place and people involved.
- Read the story aloud and then retell it without your notes.
Day 93 — Life story overview
Level: A2
- Write a simple life story from childhood to now in short German sentences.
- Use years, cities, jobs and family as main points.
- Tell this life story to your wife only in German.
