Day 5 — Basic sentence structure (S–V–O) (A1)
Ziel (Goal): Build correct simple German sentences using Subject–Verb–Object (S–V–O) without overthinking grammar.
1. Understand Simple Word Order
- Pattern: Subject – Verb – Object (e.g. Ich trinke Kaffee.)
- Look at 5 examples: Ich esse Brot. / Meine Frau liest ein Buch. / Wir sehen einen Film.
- Read them aloud and notice verb always in position 2.
2. Convert English Thoughts into German Sentences
- Write 10 short English ideas about your day (e.g. “I drink tea.” “We watch TV.”).
- Convert each into German: Ich trinke Tee., Wir sehen fern.
- Check that the verb is always the second element in the sentence.
3. Speaking Practice
- Read all 10 German sentences slowly once.
- Then close your notebook and try to say them again from memory.
- Say each sentence to your wife; she nods if structure is okay, or repeats the correct version.
4. Mini Dialogue Using S–V–O
- Create a tiny dialogue of 6–8 lines using only present tense S–V–O sentences.
- Example: “Ich trinke Kaffee. – Ich trinke Tee. – Ich esse Brot. – …”
- Act it with your wife for quick repetition and rhythm training.
Hinweis: Do not chase complex word order yet. Simple, correct S–V–O is your base.
