Day 2 — Pronunciation: ä, ö, ü, ch, r (A1)
Ziel (Goal): Train your mouth for the main “difficult” German sounds so later words are easier to speak correctly.
1. Special Sounds Training
- Listen to slow audio (or video) explaining ä, ö, ü, ch, r.
- For each sound, repeat 10–15 times: just the sound, not words. Example: üüüüüü, ööööö.
- Practice the “ch” in words like ich, nicht and the German R from the throat (not the English R).
2. Example Words (Build a Small List)
- Write 2–3 words for each sound, e.g.: Äpfel, Mädchen (ä), Öl, schön (ö), Tür, fünf (ü), ich, nicht (ch), rot, drei (r).
- Say each word out loud 5 times. Do not rush; focus on mouth shape.
- Underline the part of the word that contains the target sound.
3. Re-do Day 1 Greetings with Better Sounds
- Repeat the Day 1 greeting dialogue, but now pay attention to ch (in ich) and the German R (in guten if you have it in examples).
- Ask your wife to listen and tell you if your sounds are improving.
- Record a short greeting on your phone and listen to your own pronunciation.
4. Mini Speaking Drill
- Make a short line with each sound: e.g. “Ich bin müde”, “Ich habe Öl”, “Ich bin fröhlich”.
- Say them slowly 3–4 times, then at normal speaking speed.
Hinweis: Today is mouth gym. Do not worry about grammar or meaning – focus on sound accuracy.
